My home network upgrading version 2.0 – part III

After a trying in whole week during CNY holiday, I still cannot get the VLAN function of pfsense working under the VM of ESXI system. But VLAN function will be the key role of my home network version 2.0. So I decided to directly install pfsense OS into J4125 miniPC instead of using ESXI VM system.

But in the 1st trying, the installation of pfsense was failed due to Realtek R8125B 2.5 network interface of J4125 MiniPC unable be recognised. No choice, I needed to google for solution. After searching, I got it as other ppl has same issue and managed to solve it. They plugged in a USB network adapter during the installation. So pfsense can be successfully installed. This USB network adapter was assigned to WAN connection. Then when plug in the LAN with internet connection, need to run some commands under Shell interface. The latest driver of RL8125B NCI can be installed into pfsense system. Once done, pfsense need to be restarted. After reboot, the RL8125B NIC will be used. I followed the same step and solve the issue. Now, pfsense is running well in my J4125 mini PC and playing the router role.
