After nearly a month of waiting, the day finally arrived — Anna informed us that our new BYD Seal 6 EV was ready for collection! 🎉 We planned to collect it on a Saturday after Ze’s Chinese tuition, making it a nice family moment for us.
Before leaving home, we took one final family photo with our 9.5-year-old Toyota Wish. 📸❤️ It had been a reliable car for our family, taking us through school runs, family outings, road trips, and everyday life without any major problems. Saying goodbye felt more emotional than expected 🥹 as it had been part of many family memories.
When we arrived at the dealer’s collection centre in the afternoon, Anna was already waiting for us. She brought us to Level 2, where several new BYD cars were waiting for collection. ✨
And there it was — our Seal 6 EV, parked in the second bay on the right with a big red ribbon across the bonnet. 🎀🚘 Seeing it in person made everything feel real after weeks of waiting.
A technician welcomed us, helped us take some family photos 📷, and gave us a quick introduction to the car’s main features. Since this was our first EV, there was plenty to learn. He also helped us set up the digital key and answered our questions. The whole briefing took about 30 minutes. 🤩
Next, I did a first drive to the 1st level the charging station, where the technician showed us how to charge the car. 🔋⚡ Since this was our first EV, it was a completely new experience for us. While the car was charging, we returned to the showroom to complete the paperwork with Anna. 📝
After everything was done, Jas took her first drive in the EV. Since she will be doing the school run from Monday, it was a good chance for her to get familiar with the car. 🚗💪
Overall, the collection process was smooth and memorable. A big thank you to Anna 🙏 for helping us throughout the process — from the Toyota Wish trade-in to the insurance and paperwork, making everything easy for us.
Now comes the next step — shopping for accessories! 🛒😅 Finding accessories for the right-hand-drive version on Taobao has already become more difficult than expected.
