My BYD Seal 6 EV received its first Over-The-Air (OTA) system software update just one month after purchase. I believe this is among the first OTA updates rolled out to all Seal 6 EV owners.
After installing the update, I noticed the user interface remained largely unchanged. This appears to be a minor maintenance release focused on backend improvements rather than user-facing features. Still, it’s reassuring to see BYD committing to continuous software refinement and the overall user experience.
That said, there’s a noticeable gap between BYD’s software capabilities and those of competitors like Tesla, whose systems are more advanced and feature-rich. However, I’m optimistic. As China’s new energy vehicle market matures and manufacturers invest in technology development, I expect these Chinese EV brands will close that gap significantly in the coming years.
