Warranty Claim for Samsung SSD

In this morning, I received a email from my NAS Synology DS918+ that reported one Samsung 970EVO SSD in my DS918+ NAS is degraded. And NAS asked action to save the data. In the same time, there was a “beep” sound to alarm with NAS.

So I turn off NAS and took out this affected SSD for the failure confirmation. I used a portable SSD case to mount and connect ot my Macbook Pro and PC. This SSD was unable to be detected with both computer. And it showed the failure due to hardware error. So I decided to claim warranty as this SSD with 5 years manufacturer warranty.

So I call the Eternal Asia (EA)- agent of Samsung SSD to request for RMA. As per their request, I sent the photos of serial number and Lazada purchase receipt by email for warranty validation. And they informed that the defective SSD needs to be bought to their shop for replacement. And I managed to arrive their office at 6:05pm as they close at 6:30pm.

The EA staff received the defective SSD and replaced with a new Samsung 970EVO Plus with same capacity 250G that it is advanced model.

Compared with another old Samsung SSD

Overall, the whole process was smooth. Now, the new SSD is working well in my DS918+ NAS. 😎
